USHERS / GREETERS

20231022_094857.jpg

There is an adage which says, you never get a second chance to make a good first impression. At the Catlettsburg Harvest Church of God, we’ve grown accustomed to being greeted by the smiling faces and warm welcome given to us by our greeters and ushers. Sister JoAnn Rakes coordinates this ministry. Anyone who has visited or become part of our church family no doubt has remembered this ministry. Members are JoAnn & Duck Rakes, Louis Heaberlin, and Tony Smith.

Nancy and the Worship Team lead us in Praise and Worship to bring us before the throne. Members are Vickie Dalton, April Clark, Nancy Banfield, Ginny Griffith, Rowena Church, Andrew Hall, and Delena Smith (not pictured).

Sister Virginia Griffith leads a prayer service on Friday evenings at our church called “Fighting On Our Knees”. The service features participation by members of the pastoral staff and singers who share scripture, speak words of hope and encouragement and pray over prayer requests. Each prayer service can be attended at the church or viewed live on the Facebook page. Prayer requests are accepted during the service on Facebook Messenger. Members are Andrew Hall, Melissa Colyer, Ginny Griffith, Rev. Roger Wireman, and Tim Griffith.

The mission of the Harvest Sisters Women’s Ministry is to walk in peace, purpose and power with a vision to win the harvest. Tom and Chris Napier are instrumental in ensuring that our services are broadcast live and are available for viewing to our online audience. Each week they ensure that the service is carried live from the sanctuary via our Facebook page. This enables anyone not able to attend in-person the opportunity to enjoy the praise & worship and preaching. We praise the Lord for this outreach!

GRIEFSHARE

11w.jpg

GriefShare is a Christ-centered program that helps people apply biblical principles as they deal with the emotions and life stresses following the death of a loved one. With GriefShare, we provide a deep level of care through a support group to grieving people. GriefShare support group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief during a 13-week journey together. You’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability—and gain solid support each step of the way. Pastor Todd Slayton is assisted by his wife, Teri Slayton, and their daughter, Pastor Tabitha Raines.

MESSY GRACE

SueHornsby.jpg

Messy Grace shows us that Jesus’s command to “love your neighbor as yourself” doesn’t have an exception clause for a gay “neighbor”— or for that matter, any other “neighbor” we might find it hard to relate to. Jesus was able to love these people and yet still hold on to his beliefs. So can you. Even when it’s messy. Messy Grace is a ministry that offers Christian support for family and friends as they go through this journey. You are not alone! We can come together and love as Christ loves as we live in truth and grace. Messy Grace is lead by Sister Sue Hornsby.

Clark & April Scaggs have faithfully led this ministry to our local communities for a number of years. The Bus Ministry provides transportation to and from services for anyone who needs a ride. This ministry is geared toward fulfilling the command of Christ to bring in the harvest.

COMPASSIONATE CARE

SusieWillis.jpg

One of the most compassionate ways to minister to a family who has lost a loved one is to prepare and serve them a meal. This is a specialized ministry of Sister Susie Willis, who reaches out to families both inside and outside the church during times of loss. Her unique talents and skills share the love of Christ with grieving families and embodies our church’s heart of ministry. Additionally, Susie oversees many fundraising efforts and special dinners.
